Discussion > Engine replacement
Just bought my first jeep with 7,000 miles on it. It didn't even make the drive from New York to Tennessee. It made it about 5 hours outside of New York. The engine lost oil pressure and I believe it to be locked up. My driver is on side of the road and I am not sure but believe the engine is seized. It is a 4 cyl. does anyone know what type of inline 6 could be used as a replacement? Please hurry desparate to make a decision on what to do.

Sorry to hear your story, mine did the same.A transplant of an Iron Duke (GM) is an option. I was going to do that and changed my mind...Another member did it and you should check into that as an option. I went another way, putting the Beijing jeep on an early Bronco. The wheel base and track are almost perfect. The biggest obstacle was resoing the transmission tunnel which had to be cut and redone. Good Luck! Jim

I just finished Chucks engine swap i swaped broken 4cyl for a 95 5.0 i utilized the factory trans an transfercase, I built a custon adpter that will bolt to either a ford or chevy engine the chevy was about 3 inches wider so i optid to use the ford engine. The job all and all was pretty interesting.
We finished around 1 am feb 9. (This took aprox 10 weeks of labor and fab total everything was built in my shop in tennessee)
And took it for first test drive with some nice american muscle under the hood.
Now chucks mustang i mean jeep run sweet and will be crusing the streets in tx soon hopefully he will post some pics of jeep if not i have a few if anyone is interested .
